contains Marriages from 1538 to 1837 only.
Later years are covered by civil
registration and census
returns etc.
At July 2003 there were more than 95,000
entries in the Berkshire Marriage Index produced by the Berkshire
Family History Society. The parishes and periods included in this
Marriage Index are shown below.
The column in bold type shows our
contribution of just over 63,000 records, which have been checked
against the original Parish Registers. The other entries are in the
process of being checked and will be added to the main
database ASAP. Parishes that where formally in Berkshire and now in
Oxfordshire are on the North Berks Marriage Index compiled by
Oxfordshire Family History Society.
