In 1918/9 there were three parishes only in
Reading, namely St Mary, St Lawrence (the Abbey
church founded 1121) and St Giles. Note:
the brackets are for your information and are not
part of the title. St Mary, the Minster church,
is the original) whilst St Lawrence, the Abbey
church, was founded in 1121.
The registers are in the Berkshire Record
Office but St Mary's for the period 1538 - 1812
are printed, edited by G P Crawford 1891 - 1892.
