'Birth Brief' is the name given to five-generation ancestral (pedigree) charts containing the names and vital records - Birth/Baptism, Marriage and Death/Burial - submitted by co-operating members of the BerksFHS. Most have Berkshire entries but some will have few or none as the prime connection with Berkshire is only that a descendent is (or was) a member of BerksFHS.

The Birth Briefs have been computerised for easy search and retrieval. This index gives surnames and forenames with vital records by year and county. It currently (Feb 2008) contains over 32,586 names (an increase of 2,856 since Jan 2006).

For 'living' persons - defined as those born less than 110 years ago for whom there is no death record - dates are replaced by '...' in the Index and may not be included on any printed output we supply.
