with a variety of activities in the Vale, principally in the towns of
Abingdon, Faringdon, Wallingford and Wantage, plus the many rural
settlements, all part of the pre-1974 county of Berkshire (since then
in Oxfordshire). The author writes about the Berkshire Pig, village
fêtes, the Great Western Railway among many other interesting
subjects. The numbered illustrations are in two sections with the
captions listed at the front of the book. At the back is a
