Tour of the Historic Buildings in the University of Reading: with the Friends of Reading University - FULLY BOOKED

The Friends of the University will take us on a trail of the historic and interesting buildings that can be found within the Whiteknights University campus.  Covering 1.3 square kilometres, the campus includes Whiteknights Lake, conservation meadows and woodlands as well as most of the university's departments.  The campus takes its name from the nickname of the 13th century knight, John De Erleigh IV or the 'White Knight', and was landscaped in the 18th century by the Marquis of Blandford.

Tour of Northern Whiteknights Park area of the University of Reading: with The Friends of Reading University

This walk takes in Foxhill House, the development of the University's halls of residence, the site of the Marquis of Blandford's New Gardens and also visits the sites of Park House, Erleigh Park (now demolished) and the ice house.  The trail will finish at Whiteknights Park House.

Reading's Old Shops Walk: with Ann Smith

Ann is the former local studies lead at Readng Central Library and the author of 100 Years of Shops in Reading.  The walk will take in the locations of some of the town's old businesses.

Tour of Reading University's London Road Campus: with Friends of Reading University

Explore the London Road campus and the early history of Reading University. Visit the pre-existing buildings (East Thorpe, Acacias and Green Bank), find out about the site's links with the Palmer and Sutton families, before looking at the growth and development of the University (Great Hall, Library, War Memorial and gymnasium).  Walk includes a visit to the Museum of English Rural Life.
