'The Armistice' - Talk series - First talk of five (Thu. 11 Oct, 2018 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

Tracks to the Trenches: with Mike Hurst

An affecting account of railway activities in England and in France during the Great War.  This will include the transport and care of the wounded back to Blighty with some focus on South Oxfordshire and West Berkshire.  Railways permitted the mass movements of munitions, equipment and men - and the harrowing resulting casualties, many of whom were taken through the Thames Valley.

For attendees wishing to do some family research whilst visiting the Centre, the Research Zone computers will be open from 1pm.

TICKETS: £5 (members £4) includes tea and cake.  Advanced booking is highly recommended but you can pay on the door (subject to availability).

Book all five talks in the series for the discounted price of £20 (members £16).

The other four talks in this series are on 25th October, 8th November, 15th November and 6th December.
