Drop-in advice sessions

Welcome. This page tells you about regular drop-in advice sessions provided by the society at The Centre for Heritage and Family History (second floor, Reading Central Library), and at other locations across Berkshire.

Advice7 good website

Drop-in advice sessions in Reading have the added benefit of offering the full facilities of the Research Zone at The Centre for Heritage and Family History. These are FREE to attend, no booking is necessary, simply drop in!

Society volunteers run similar sessions in principal libraries across Berkshire, including those at Abingdon, Bracknell, Cippenham, Hungerford, Lambourn, Newbury, Thatcham, Wantage and Wokingham. None of these libraries are able currently to offer the range of online and other resources that are available for you to use, FREE, at The Centre for Heritage and Family History.

All local sessions are FREE to attend. You can usually just drop in, but some local libraries prefer you to book your time slot in advance, to avoid disappointment when sessions are busy. See the sessions running this month (and topics) by clicking on the Drop-in Advice Sessions tab — Main menu (on the left) — or check the Events Calendar.

Gather what you know, decide your questions, bring them along, and get some friendly help and advice with your research — wherever your ancestors came from.

Always see that you have the right date, time and details of an event before you travel. Any late changes will be displayed on the calendar.
