Reading

This branch meets on the last Thursday evening of the month at

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
280 The Meadway,
Tilehurst, Reading
RG30 4PE

How to find the Church
(This uses the Streetmap website and opens a new tab or window)

Doors open at 7.15 for a 7.45 start

Visitors are always welcome

There is ample free parking on site.

We have have a wide variety of talks aimed at all interests and abilities, from the beginner to the more advanced, all given by experts in their field. In July we have a meeting off site visiting a place of local historical interest or collection. The December meeting is usually a 'home grown one' where members share their own research, often on a linked theme.

The meetings start with a few notices of interest, an announcement of new books and other publications before our speaker gives his talk. Afterwards there is time for questions  before we adjourn for refreshments and general discussion. The meetings usually finish by 9.45 pm

If you are having trouble and feel someone else might be able to help we have a help desk each month at the meeting.

The bookstall is there with a wide range of publications and often some bargains as well.

We also have the Exchange magazine library each month whereby members can borrow magazines from other Family History societies.

Go directly to the Events Calendar for details about this month's meeting.

Other Branch Activities

Public Benefit is central to the work of all charities and each branch of the Berkshire Family History Society plays its own part in delivering that benefit. Some members of the Reading Branch help in transcribing documents in the Record office for eventual publication by the society. Others give talks to different organisations, or help in local libraries, when they have an open day to encourage and help others in their research.
