Research Centre opening hours.

Berkshire Family History Society’s Research Centre at Yeomanry House in Reading offers you an unparalleled set of resources for your family history research - whether you are searching locally, nationally, or even internationally.

Currently, the Research Centre is open to society members and the public at the following times:

  • Tuesdays from 10.00 am - 16.00 pm and 19.00 - 21.30 pm

  • Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.00 am - 16.00 pm

Please note thatfrom 1st June 2012 the Research Centre will not be open on a Saturday.

  • Second Sunday each month from 11.00 am - 16.00 pm

except bank holidays

We will also be closed for the Diamond Jubilee Holiday on 5th June 2012.

Admission is free to current members on showing your membership card

On site car parking is free

Non-members are asked to pay a £2 temporary membership fee at each visit

Only 15 yards from the Centre is Berkshire Record Office - holding almost all of the original records of pre-1974 Berkshire

Volunteers are available to give advice and guidance if you need it but do not carry out your research or operate equipment for you. If you are not confident in using a PC, bring a friend or relative along to operate it for you. If he or she is not a member, they will not have to pay a temporary membership fee if they are there simply to operate a computer (or other equipment) on your behalf.

The society regrets that disabled access to the library (first floor) is not easier. Research Assistants will always get library items for you and a fiche reader can be made available downstairs. More details on the Visit Us! page
