Richard's talk was based on his own research
which he started 33 years ago. He advised that we
put down our own details, and that family sources
should start with mother and father plus
grandparents and dont forget to mention
photographs when talking to relatives.
Some other items to look out for and include
in your history are:
- School certificates such as the old
Leaving Certificates and newer GCSE and A
level certificates
- Details of Hobbies and pastimes
- Things like membership of Sports Clubs,
cubs and brownies
- Sunday School cards
- Blood donation certificates
- Look out for village postcards
- Diaries, family notebooks and account
books
Family Bibles check for details between
old and New Testament, the bible may appear to be
empty when looking at the front section.
Richard was able to tell of interesting
coincidences plus a number of amusing stories
regarding his own research which the membership
thoroughly enjoyed.
