In the September issue of the Berkshire Family
Historian I wrote about my great great
grandparents, John and Hannah Povey, the death of
John and the subsequent appeal for a mangle on
behalf of his widow. I hardly dared hope that
this would produce any response about Hannah
Povey and the mangle but Geoff Povey, a third
cousin from Chesham, wrote to me with further
information. Geoff and I share John and Hannah
Povey as great great grandparents. Geoff s great
grandfather was William Povey, the elder brother
of my great grandmother Letitia Povey.
