For family historians who live in Berkshire — and genealogists and local historians with research interests in England's Royal County.

Based at The Centre for Heritage and Family History in the centre of Reading, the shop stocks the publications of Berkshire Family History Society, and others in electronic, print and microform formats. These include transcriptions, indexes, general and local guides for family historians, maps and a selection of local history books for Berkshire and its adjoining counties.

Book online via the shop for events held in Reading at The Centre for Heritage and Family History. You need to book your place for courses, workshops, afternoon talks, guided walks, archive visits — because places are limited in many cases and the events are proving very popular. Find details of the current events programme here

From the shop you can

  • join the society
