Beginner's Family History Course - Four weekly sessions

Tutors: Gillian Steves and Chad Hanna

A series of four workshops designed for those new to researching family history. Where to start, how to progress your research and good research practice are all explained.

Course sessions to be held 11 am to 2 pm on 9th and 16th October and 13th and 27th November with a break for lunch.

A series of four workshops for those new to researching family history including where to start, how to progress and good research practice. Learn how to work with core records of civil registration, censuses, parish registers and modern wills. Discover the different genealogy websites, the content they offer and their strengths and limitations.

In the final session there will be an opportunity to briefly look at one or two topics of particular interest to participants after examining benefits and limitations of some of the family history programs available to record your research.

For attendees wishing to do some family research whilst visiting the Centre, the research zone computers will be available until 3 pm.
