Berkshire Parish Register Publications

Page reviewed and part revised 11th April 2017

Berkshire Family History Society publishes:

  • Berkshire Baptisms CD (now Second Edition — March 2016)
  • Berkshire Marriages CD (now Third Edition — September 2014)
  • Berkshire Burials CD (now 12th Edition — April 2017)
  • CDs containing transcriptions of selected parish registers
  • CDs containing transcriptions of monumental inscriptions (with photographs in many cases)

The Baptisms, Marriages and Burials CDs offer checked transcriptions of register entries for the parishes of 'old' Berkshire, together with a number of useful finding aids. Some but not all of these transcriptions are also online at findmypast

Almost all of the original registers for 'old' Berkshire are held at Berkshire Record Office in Reading, including those for parishes of North Berkshire and the Vale of the White Horse.

Parishes and non-parochial records included in one or more of the Berkshire Baptisms, Marriages and Burials CDs are shown with an asterisk in the table, as in Abingdon St Helen*, Abingdon St Nicholas*. NOTE: The full table will be updated shortly, so as to reflect fully the latest society publications. Use these links to check latest coverage.

Berkshire Baptisms    Berkshire Marriages     Berkshire Burials

Like transcribing of pre-1974 Berkshire parish registers, the table below is a work in progress.

The table summarises Church of England parish registers — those of Berkshire's ancient parishes and the new parishes formed in the 19th century and later. It also details various non-parochial registers — nonconformist churches, workhouses, cemeteries — and shows you where specific indexes and transcriptions are available for a particular place for purchase in CD or booklet form. In some cases, time period(s) covered in these publications are shown too.

Brief details of contents for these specific publications are given in the ‘Coverage’ column (C = Christenings or Baptisms, M = Marriages, B = Burials). Be aware that there are gaps in some datasets where original records have not survived.

Go to the Shop section of this website for latest details of all publications and how to purchase them.
