A cemetery was opened in Newtown Road in 1840, first as a private enterprise and later taken over by the borough. It has an excellent website (see Links) and burials for 1868-84, and 1898 to 2006 are in the Berkshire Burial Index. Its successor is the municipal cemetery on the Hermitage road at Shaw, covered from 1948-51 in the Berkshire Burials CD.
