Georgian Cookery a talk by Catherine Sampson (Fri. 19 May, 2017 7:15 pm - 9:30 pm)

Bracknell and Wokingham Branch

Catherine Sampson tells how increasing industrialisation and enclosure of open fields, commons and 'wastes' changed the food that our ancestors ate in Georgian times (1714 to 1830), and how they prepared and cooked it.

The talk will also touch on cookery writers and recipes of the period that inspired successive generations of householders, glimpse into the Georgian kitchen and dining room, and recount some of the more extreme table etiquette of the middle and upper classes.

Visitors are welcome at all Branch meetings.
