Food our attitudes towards it, and customs surrounding it, is an often overlooked facet of our lives. This talk explores the diet of the rich and poor in the 1700s and early 1800s, looks at the influence of contemporary cookery writers, examines the changes increasing technological advancement and trade bring to households, and recounts some of the extreme table etiquette of the middle and upper classes.
