Civil War walk around the Katesgrove area of Reading with Evelyn Williams and Steve Haywood (Wed. 8 Aug, 2018 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm)

Katesgrove-resident, Evelyn Williams' research interests include: allotments; industrial history and everything to do with Katesgrove.  Her MBA dissertation explored the brewing industries of Reading.  She is the author of several local history articles, and a founder member of the Whitley Pump, an online local news website for Katesgrove.  Steve Haywood has been a research volunteer for Reading Museum since retirement, undertaking various projects for the Reading Abbey Revealed project including research on the siege of Reading and its impact on the town's inhabitants.

This walk will be possible for those with a mobility scooter or powered wheelchairs, but will be difficult for those in non-powered wheelchairs.  It will be an up-and downhill walk, of about two miles, exploring places in the Whitley and Katesgrove areas of Reading, that played a part in the Civil War.  The walk will start and finish near St. Giles' Church.
