Reading Branch - The 1939 National Register by Mark Bowman (Thu. 30 May, 2019 7:15 pm - 9:30 pm)

Mark Bowman began work on his family tree at the age of 15 and never really stopped, despite the need to get an education and earn a living. In retirement he ‘works’ at the Reading Family History Centre and acts as convenor of Reading's U3A family history group, as well as giving talks and quizzes to local groups.

The 1939 National Register

How, when and why the information kept in the National Register was gathered.

Who was included? and what information was collected about them?

Why is information about some people on the register still unavailable?

How to obtain information from the Findmypast website, illustrated by examples from his own family and his home town, Mitcham.

This 2016 talk has been updated to include reference to the Register on Ancestry.
