Jane and the Thames Valley Austens talk by Joy Pibworth (Fri. 16 Mar, 2018 7:15 pm - 9:30 pm)

Jane Austen is usually considered  as a Hampshire author who was at her most content and creative in her beloved county.

However she had close links to the Reading – Henley - Wargrave area, and it is these which will be explored in this talk.

Joy is a Janeite of many years standing and a member of the Jane Austen Society.

Members' Open Evenings are a chance for attendees to talk informally about their own family history research, brick walls and/or eureka moments.  

Tonight's sugested topic is PHOTOGRAPHS. Please bring along a photo that has inspired your research.

The local roads are much improved, but please take care on the estate to the community centre.

Non members and those new to family history are welcome to attend these meetings.  Research facilities will be available.

Refreshments available all evening.

Joan Dils is currently President of the History of Reading Society, a Vice-President of the Berkshire Local History Association and an Honorary Visiting Fellow in History at the University of Reading.  Joan will lead a guided walk around Forbury Gardens, highlighting its colourful history through religious and political change to its current status as pleasure gardens.  Don't miss this rare opportunity.
