Berkshire Family History Society — is for family historians like you.

Not every member has Berkshire ancestors, although some of us do. Indeed, some members have no Berkshire ancestors. But this is a society that aims to help all family historians — those who live in or close to Berkshire, as well as those anywhere in the world with specific ancestral links with the Royal County.

Whether you are a relative newcomer to family history or a truly seasoned researcher, you will be warmly welcomed by the society's volunteers and members. You will find plenty happening and much good advice at hand when you join a family history society like this one.

  • Join todayif you are a family historian living in Reading, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Newbury,Windsor or Wokingham...

  • Join today if you are a family historian who lives elsewhere in the Royal County of Berkshire, or close to it...

  • Join todayif you are researching Berkshire ancestors —  wherever in the world you may live

  • Join today — to enjoy all the benefits of membership year to 30th June 2020 (Membership years run from 1st July to 30th June). You receive copies of the Berkshire Family Historian — the society's quarterly magazine — during that time too

  • Around half of society members live in the Royal County. Four in 10 live elsewhere across the UK. One member in 10 is overseas, mostly in Australia, the USA, Canada and New Zealand.

Reflecting changes in data protection rules in 2018, the society needs you to let it know how you wish to be kept up to date on society products, services, news and developments. Membership and renewal forms offer one way for you to give your consents. An email with your contact preferences (whether for email, for phone or by post) to the membership secretary is another.

Membership and renewal forms include a Gift Aid declaration section for UK taxpayers too. The society is a charity — run entirely by unpaid volunteers — and your membership payment counts as a donation. The next page explains why Gift Aid is important to the society.

All UK taxpayers are eligible to make a declaration.
