Joining the society

Gift Aid increases the value of your membership payment... but at no added cost to you

If you pay UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax, please complete your Gift Aid Declaration when joining the society.

Are you eligible?

YES - if you expect to pay an amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April to 5 April) that is at least equal to or exceeds the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year.

Should you pay less UK Income Tax/Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on the total of your donations in any tax year, it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

Berkshire Family History Society is able to reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that you gave in the last four years and will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that you give now and in the future. Your Gift Aid declaration can apply to past, present and future membership payments and donations - they are all potential qualifying payments.

Higher Rate taxpayers If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and wish to receive additional tax relief due to you, include all Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.

Why is it important?

Berkshire Family History Society encourages every member and supporter to Gift Aid payments if they are eligible to do so. It makes a very real difference to the work that the society can do — and to the range of products, services and events that it can provide.
