Arborfield and the Liberty of Newland, The History, Stories and Customs of

Arborfield Local History Society, 2010, A4, 43pp

The revised text in this illustrated booklet is based on the Arborfield and Newland's Women's Institute book of 1922, which is now out of print. The original was written by a local resident, Beatrice Simmonds, one of five daughters of John Simmonds, chairman of the family bank, J & C Simmonds & Co of King Street, Reading. Most of the pages cover the history of Arborfield (with additional notes to 1946), including a list of rectors. This is followed by Old Customs and old remedies, and miscellaneous transcripts.
